Regulation for .al domains
Like every country-code domain, .al follows a regulation set by AKEP (the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority), which binds both the registrar and the client. Read the full rules.
Albania's national domain, registered directly through an AKEP-accredited registrar. €8.99 per year, with managed DNS at no extra cost.
The .al domain is Albania's country-code TLD and the clearest signal that a website targets the Albanian market. For a business operating in Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë or anywhere in Albania, a .al address builds trust immediately.
Beyond credibility, the national domain helps with local search. Search engines treat the extension as one of several geographic signals, so a .al site has a natural advantage for searches performed from Albania.
| Extension | Register | Renew | Transfer | Term |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| .al | €8.99 | €8.99 | €8.99 | 1–10 years |
| .com.al | €9.99 | €9.99 | €9.99 | 1–10 years |
| .net.al | €9.99 | €9.99 | €9.99 | 1–10 years |
| .org.al | €9.99 | €9.99 | €9.99 | 1–10 years |
Prices are in euro and exclude VAT. Renewal is charged at the same rate as registration — no increase after the first year.
Both individuals and legal entities, Albanian or foreign, may register a .al domain, provided they submit the required documentation and the data is accurate and genuine. Commercial entities must provide a QKB extract or equivalent registration document.
Like every country-code domain, .al follows a regulation set by AKEP (the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority), which binds both the registrar and the client. Read the full rules.
The General Directorate of Industrial Property is the institution legally responsible for registering and administering industrial property objects, including rights over trademarks and patents.
AKEP maintains a list of names that cannot be registered under .al because they are considered unsuitable for public use. Check it before you buy.
There is also a list of reserved names — names with sensitive public use. We recommend reviewing it before proceeding with registration.
.al domains are transferred using an authorisation code (EPP code, AUTH code or transfer key). The code is issued by your current registrar and must be used within 24 hours. See the transfer guide.
A .al domain purchase is approved by AKEP. If the domain is approved, refunds are not possible. If AKEP does not approve the application, your payment is refunded in full.
