How much does a .al domain cost?
Registering a .al domain costs €8.99 per year. The .com.al, .net.al and .org.al extensions cost €9.99 per year. Prices exclude VAT and renewal is charged at the same rate.
How long does .al registration take?
After the order is placed and documents submitted, the application goes to AKEP for verification. In practice approval takes 1–3 business days, depending on how complete the documentation is.
Can a foreigner register a .al domain?
Yes. Foreign individuals and entities can register .al domains, but they must submit the required identification documents and meet the conditions of the AKEP regulation.
Which documents are required?
Individuals need a valid ID document. Legal entities need a QKB extract or an equivalent registration document. Details are on the Required documents page.
Can I transfer my .al domain to UpFlare?
Yes. You need the authorisation code (EPP / AUTH code) from your current registrar. The code must be used within 24 hours. See the transfer guide.
What happens if I do not use the domain?
Under the regulation, if a .al domain is not put into use within one year from registration or renewal, it may be released and registered by someone else.
Do you offer refunds?
A domain purchase is a service approved by AKEP. If the domain is approved, no refund is issued. If AKEP does not approve the application, your payment is returned.
For how many years can I register a .al domain?
.al domains can be registered and renewed for periods from 1 to 10 years. Multi-year renewal protects you from accidental expiry.
Is DNS management included?
Yes. Every domain registered with UpFlare comes with managed DNS at no extra cost, supporting A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV and CAA records from the client area.
Can I use my .al domain with another host?
Yes. Just point the nameservers to your provider. See the DNS & Nameservers guide.
What is WHOIS and is my data public?
WHOIS is the public registry of domain information. For .al, limited information is displayed under AKEP rules and Albanian data protection law. More on the .al WHOIS page.
Can I register a name matching a registered trademark?
No. Approved trademark and patent names that exactly match a domain name under .al are reserved for the rights holder and cannot be registered by anyone else.
