How the transfer works

.al domains are transferred using an authorisation code, also known as the EPP code, AUTH code or transfer key. The code is issued by your current registrar and, under the regulation, must be used within 24 hours of issue.

Steps

  1. Request the code from your current registrar. They are obliged to provide it.
  2. Remove the lock (registrar lock) if the domain is locked.
  3. Verify the contact — the registrant email must be correct and accessible.
  4. Place the order with UpFlare and enter the authorisation code.
  5. Confirm — the transfer is processed and the domain appears in your dashboard.

Common mistakes

  • Expired code — request it again; the window is 24 hours.
  • Domain locked — remove the lock at your current registrar.
  • Outdated email — update the contact before you start.
  • Domain near expiry — renew before transferring to be safe.

Will my site go down?

No, provided the nameservers stay the same. A transfer changes the registrar, not the DNS configuration. If you are also moving hosting, migrate first and change nameservers afterwards — see the DNS guide.
