Regulation for .al domains
Like every country-code domain, .al follows a regulation set by AKEP (the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority), which binds both the registrar and the client. Read the full rules.

The General Directorate of Industrial Property is the institution legally responsible for registering and administering industrial property objects, including rights over trademarks and patents.
List of prohibited names
AKEP maintains a list of names that cannot be registered under .al because they are considered unsuitable for public use. Check it before you buy.

Transfer to a new registrar
.al domains are transferred using an authorisation code (EPP code, AUTH code or transfer key). The code is issued by your current registrar and must be used within 24 hours. See the transfer guide.

Before searching for and registering a “.al” domain you should check the website of the General Directorate of Industrial Property (GDIP) to make sure the name you have chosen is not a registered trademark or patent. Approved trademark and patent names that exactly match a domain name under “.al” are reserved for the rights holder and cannot be registered by anyone else.
Important! The registrant agrees that if the .al domain is not put into use within a period of 1 (one) year from the date of registration or renewal, the domain may be released and another individual may register and use it.
